A Brief Introduction to Zhoushan Middle School【>>中文版】

　　Zhoushan  Middle  School , the oldest secondary school in Zhoushan, was founded by the  patriotic
Zhoushan industrialists including Liu Hongsheng, Zhu Baoshan in 1921. Over the past nine decades,
the school has been listed as one of the 18 key secondary schools and one of the first-class key secondary
schools of Zhejiang Province.In 2010 it was honored as one of the seven high schools in Zhejiang Province
qualified for Nominations from Headmasters to Attend Peking University. Since China began its “reform and
opening-up” 30 years ago, Zhoushan Middle School has been carrying forward the spirit of “discipline and
truth-seeking”, keeping pace with the times and continuing innovation. It is making every effort to foster "inner
strength, intelligence, civilization, and generosity” in students’ character, and continually improve the quality
of the education it offers. Therefore it enjoys a high reputation both in the province and nationally.

　　For six years in a row, its students have scored among the top 10 in the entire province. In 2010, 15
students were admitted to Qinghua or Beijing University. Every year, more than 150 students won prizes in
various national and provincial competitions in sciences.Our school “attaches great importance to both arts
and sciences, placing value on the breadth and depth of students’ knowledge and their overall development”. Our students also perform well in physical education, achieving excellent results in provincial secondary
school student sports competitions. Meanwhile, over years of exploration and try of the art education, ideal
achievements have been made, especially in 2010. 2 students are admitted to Qinghua University, one
of whom ranked third nationwide in the art performance, 17 more into other famous key universities and 2
delivered excellent performance in the fine arts test by the Chinese Central Academy of Fine arts. To enrich
the students’ school life, we have 28 students clubs, a Zhoushan gongs-and-drums band and a brass band.

　　The school has many excellent and experienced teachers, among whom are 4 special-class teachers, 18
academic leaders of the city, 113 senior teachers and 2 foreign teachers. The school has been expanding in
size rapidly. Now the number of the students totals to more than 2,500. Both the teachers and students are
continually striving to make the school an exemplary modern school of high quality and character, the best in
Zhejiang Province and famous around the whole country. After a thorough design, the school campus will be
